Rakhibandhan Utsab
Rakhibandhan Utsab was organized on the 29th August, 2015 across the nation. As desired by the Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the day was observed in our state as SANSKRITI DIBAS in order to build up communal harmony amongst all the people of West Bengal irrespective of race, religion, caste & creed and language. Rakhibandhan Utsab, 2016 was organized as a part of Sanskriti Dibas in all 341 Blocks, 121 Municipalities, 5 Municipal Corporations of our state and 144 Wards under Kolkata Municipal Corporation along with 21 District Headquarters (including GTA as a separate district unit). The state level programme was held at the Y. Road, adjacent to Metro Channel, Esplanade, Kolkata. The programme at the Y. Road was very much successful as it was attended by the representatives of different religious community, school children, renowned singers, film & television stars and other dignitaries. To organize the Rakhibandhan Utsab across the state, an amount of Rs.20,000/- (Rupees Twenty Thousand) only was given to each Block/Municipality/Corporation, each of the 144 Wards under Kolkata Municipal Corporation and 21 District Headquarters. The amount sanctioned for organizing the central programme at Y. Road was Rs.5 (Five) Lakh only.
